Real dogs are the best, but if you can’t have one then maybe a VR dog is the best alternative. Ridgeline Labs is the developer designing RoVR, a virtual dog simulator. The game is being backed on Kickstarter and needs to reach a $30,000 goal by Sep 15 to make an iPhone version. VR is gaining momentum and with past successful games like Nintendogs and Tamagotchi; virtual pets are a no brainer and likely to become a trend in the VR sphere.
The in-game pup will use machine learning algorithms to make its behavior more dynamic and real. The player can give their dog a bath, play fetch, feed them, teach them tricks, and my personal favorite- belly rubs! According to the game’s kickstarter page, the more the player loves their dog, the more he/she will love you back!
With a $20 donation you can get a copy of the game and your name in the credits. The game is being built for both HTC Vive and Oculus, with a planned release date for March 2018. If you know anyone who’s always wanted a dog and happens to have a VR headset; share RoVR’s kickstarter page!
